Old Man Markley

Screen Printed Poster

As an exercise in typography, I decided to design and then screen print a gig poster for Old Man Markley, a punk/bluegrass band hailing from Los Angeles, CA. Their music consists of an interesting combination of bluegrass twang with the energy of punk rock. I decided to express this through hand-drawn type that was then cut from rubylith and screen printed. The paper I used was rubbed with wet tea bags to create an aged look that placed the posters in the realm of bluegrass music.
